All the web sources say if you put down a vapor barrier first pergo is ok.
Floating floors are not attached to the subfloor in any way but merely sit on top of it.
I have installed pergo or similar type products in many rooms of my home.
And then lay the carpet.
To break it down here are the main reasons you need underlayment.
